PEI Immigration Partnership Program
PEI Immigration Partnership (PIP) is a province-wide, multi-sectoral partnership funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) through the Local Immigration Partnership Initiative. The PIP works in collaboration with a province-wide network of service providers, municipal leaders, provincial leaders, and those with lived experiences. Together, through coordinated and intentional working relationships among immigration partners, we strengthen overall capacity to welcome, integrate, and retain new residents.
The PIP coordinates these efforts through regular events, a LIP/Municipal council, an SPO working group, newcomer advisors, regional and local meetings, forums and focus groups, and task-based committees for the purpose of sharing knowledge, strengthening collaboration, and taking action together.
Foundational to this work is the recognition that:
- Immigration is critical for the future of PEI;
- Inclusion and integration happens within the community;
- Retention requires an organized and concerted effort by many; and
- We can do more together!
While the PIP does not provide direct settlement services to immigrants, it does provide advisory and leadership opportunities for new residents, fosters civic engagement, and seeks to strengthen overall settlement outcomes through collaboration with service providers, municipal, and community leaders. This work is enabled through partnerships with Municipalities, Immigrant Serving Agencies, Provincial Government (Workforce and Advanced Learning, Island Investment Development Inc., Municipal Affairs, Rural and Regional Development), Federal Government (IRCC, ACOA), and other local, regional, and provincial partners.
